Top iOS Puzzle/Riddle Games in the US: A Q1 2021 Performance Review

The first quarter of 2021 has been an interesting period for puzzle and riddle games on the iOS platform in the United States. Sensor Tower's data reveals notable trends in user engagement and downloads.

Brain Test: Tricky Puzzles maintained a steady performance with downloads peaking at 79K in mid-February and weekly active users (WAU) hitting a high of 500K at the end of December. The game's revenue showed a slight decline from $6.5K at the end of December to around $4.3K by the end of March.

Brain Test 2: Tricky Stories, also published by UNICO STUDIO, saw a gradual decrease in downloads from 41K at the end of December to around 22K by the end of March. WAU dropped from 165K to approximately 97K in the same period. Revenue for the game followed a similar downward trend, starting at $4.2K and ending at around $2.7K.

EYEWIND LIMITED's Brain Out - Tricky riddle games experienced a decline in downloads from 131K to 58K and in WAU from 375K to 252K during the quarter. Revenue for the game also decreased, starting at $3.7K and ending at $2.4K.

The newcomer, Girl Genius! by Lion Studios, showed a significant surge in downloads, from 18K in its release week to a high of 465K in the second week of February, before settling down to 72K by the end of March. WAU mirrored this trend, peaking at 432K in mid-February. Revenue saw a substantial increase from just $96 to over $2K.

Lastly, YOLO? witnessed a fluctuating download count, reaching its peak at 44K in the first week of January and then gradually tapering off to 15K by the end of March. WAU decreased from 76K to around 38K, and revenue followed a downward trend, starting at $983 and ending at $652.
